Cutch and compost dyeing on silk chiffon crepe type fabric. Wool quilt batting, natural dyed cotton batting, Aurifil Threads, machine stitched.

Solo Show Installed

For some reason I forgot to take a photo of the entire display, will try to remember to do so when I take the show down the end of January 2012.  Over all I'm very happy with the way the pieces look, I have to give credit to Diane Hall for hanging the pieces, I would have hung them in a straigh line and well that's boring!

And decided to take my three Wild Flower pieces along with since there will be extra space in the display case at the education center.

Not Convinced

I stitched the flax down and now wish I had not done so, I was hoping to capture a creek here locally that has several ox-bows coming off of the main stream.  I may cut some back, may add some hand stitching not sure yet.  Thinking.

Ice Jam on the Skunk River

Ice Jam on the Skunk River, I managed to get down the rivers edge and was able to get some really cool photos of the ice that was bunched up. Very inspiring for future stitching projects.

Flood Warnings Again

I'm in prep mode right now, picking everything up off of my basement studio floor in anticipation of the coming flood waters. Maybe it won't get so bad this time??? Then again I could be wrong the ground is super saturated here, the rivers are quite high and there's not a whole lot of places left for the water to go, except into basements etc.,

So prep I must. Granted it doesn't get deep here, six inches in the one corner, but it's still a pain cleaning everything. I'm debating cleaning the floor in advance, less surface dirt means less dirt afterwards right? Maybe, so long as the sewer doesn't back up into the house, again, which is what the problem has been.

Dangerous Waters

Don't try this at home kids! People were actually driving through the flood waters, the water covering the road (facing north across the intersection) came up in ;ess than a half hour. The guy in the bus is my husband John.

A River Runs Through It!!!

Here's a shot of the flood waters here in Ames at lunch this afternoon!!! I can hear the helicopters going overhead most are news choppers but I'm sure FEMA is here accessing the damage as well. We only got 3.54 inches of rain, it's all of the rain from up north, however, that is causing the most damage here.
